Alumni

Project Bucephalus has been around since 2010, and in that time we’ve had a steady stream of “graduating” members being replaced by newer members. See below for a list of our Alumni! More members will be added as we get the chance.

Imogen

Imogen (2015-2016)

Description:

Imogen is a rookie member of the team discovering the FLL through “Trash Trek”, She is a valued ally of Katie and Faith as they work to keep “girl power” alive in the team. Imogen may look small and quiet, but she is rapidly building confidence and skill.

Imogen’s biggest problem is that her small stature makes it easy for her to be unintentionally left outside the group during team discussion time. The team has adopted a rallying cry of “Where’s Imogen?” to make sure this doesn’t happen.

Jasper

Jasper (2015-2016)

Description:

Jasper is a rookie member of the team, joining the FLL for “Trash Trek”. A long-term student of the team’s robotics classes, he has started to discover how much more there is to LEGO robotics than what he first realised.

An eager student and team member, Jasper has yet to do anything memorable enough to be recorded on this page. It’s only a matter of time…

Raymond

Raymond (2014-2016)

Description:

Raymond is a second-year FLL veteran – barely. He joined the team the week after the “World Class” season opened. He learned his lesson and was ready and waiting for “Trash Trek”! Raymond has a certain photogenic talent that will take him a long time to live down!

Raymond is a Pokémon fan, and fond of bike-riding and LEGO building. He will probably find a way to combine all three of these things sometime during the season.

“Everything is Awesome!”

Katie

Katie (2014-2016)

Description:

Katie is a second-year veteran, commuting from Campbelltown to join the team for “World Class” and “Trash Trek”. Katie has a love for LEGO and was nominated for the team by her mother. Katie has now decided that this was a Good Thing. Katie likes spending time outside and playing Minecraft.

“Every year, it’s full of Muggles!”

Max

Max (2014-2016)

Description:

Max is now a second-year veteran, having joined the team with his younger brother for “World Class” and “Trash Trek”. He originally decided he wanted to be a part of the team when he heard about the way he could combine his love of LEGO and robotics in a single event. He has a love for motorbikes, gaming, and drama. He can be highly motivated by offers of sugar-based treats.

Quote:

“I like Turtles!”

Jack

Jack (2014-2016)

Description:

Jack is now a second-year veteran (along with his older brother), having experienced “World Class” and “Trash Trek”. He frequently attends team meetings in a Unicorn/Elmo/Tiger onesie. He is a talented drama student, and his favourite animal is the Unicorn.

Rui

Rui (2014 – 2015)

Description:

Rui is our first “import”, commuting from Sydney to be part of the team for the 2014/15 season. He is a veteran of “Smart Moves”, “Body Forward”, and now “World Class”. He appears pleased to have found a group of kids with similar interests/obsessions to him – while the rest of the team appears to have welcomed him as “One of Us!”.

Rui is a fan of computer games and NERF guns – which he modifies extensively.

“Seriously?”

Crystal

Crystal (2014 – 2015)

Description:

Crystal is a rookie, joining the team for “World Class”. She still appears slightly shell-shocked by the madness around her, but looks likely to be contributing to the chaos soon. Her arrival was met with much delight by Faith, as it meant that she was no longer the only girl on the team!

Crystal build empires out of LEGO pieces, and rules over them with an iron fist. She also enjoys games on the XBox and drawing.

“Braaaiiinns!”

Elliot

Elliot (2010 – 2015)

Description:

Elliot is one of the few surviving original team members. He is a five-year FLL veteran of “Body Forward”, “Food Factor”, “Senior Solutions”, “Nature’s Fury”, and “World Class”. He can be counted on to cover an awkward moment in a Judging session with a joke – sometimes he even makes it funny!

Elliot brings magic to the team – literally, as he has to be searched regularly to make sure he’s not carrying the latest card or coin trick when he should be working. His ambition in life is to beat Scott Evans at solving a Rubik’s Cube – or be cast in the remake/sequel to “Now You See Me”. We’re not sure which goal is more realistic!

 Baz

Baz (2012-2015)

Description:

After years of watching his older brothers and sisters disappear to play with robots, Baz finally got to join in himself during the “Senior Solutions” season. He is now a three-year veteran, adding “Nature’s Fury” and “World Class” to his list. Deceptively small, he is still quite talented at cooking up Project ideas, or improving the presentation. When not working (and sometimes even when he should be) he can be found atop the nearest wall or tree – sometimes even the right way up!

“I’ll climb anything”

Marcus

Marcus (2012-2014)

Description:

Marcus is a two-year veteran of “Senior Solutions” and “Nature’s Fury”. His second year saw him take on a dedicated robot role, being the chief designer of the Core Robot used in all the missions. He was most recently voted the most likely to remain calm in a crisis, earning him “promotion” to the role of Decider in team challenges. He’s not sure whether this is a good thing or not…When not building intricate robots, Marcus can be found on a soccer field playing on a representative level. We just wish he would remember to take off his boots before coming to robotics…

Kynan

Kynan (2012-2013)

Description:

Kynan is another long-suffering sibling, finally able to try out the FLL in the “Senior Solutions” season. He is eager to prove himself and explore new things he can do for the team.

Ethan

Ethan (2010 – 2013)

Description:

Ethan is one of the original team members, a veteran of “Body Forward”, “Food Factor” and “Senior Solutions”. He is one of those rare things in this team – an introvert. Although association with certain others has perhaps changed this a little!

Ethan has never been known to lose his temper, and remains the only individual to have been declared Decider in a unanimous vote by the team. He may have been horrified at the time, but grew into a capable leader.

Dylan2

Dylan (2012 – 2014)

Description:

Following in his brother’s footsteps, Dylan is now a second-year FLL veteran, with experience in “Senior Solutions” and now “Nature’s Fury”. He can be counted on to get a job done, and quietly contribute many valuable insights into both Project and Robot.

He has produced some of the team’s first videos, and we hope to see more of his work very soon!

Quote:

“I’m a sporty kid!”

Jackson

Jackson (2011 – 2014)

Description:

Jackson is a third-year veteran of “Food Factor”, “Senior Solutions”, and “Nature’s Fury”. He has come up with some innovations in Robot design we still use today, and is equally helpful in Project development.

Jackson is the main source of LEGO updates and arrival of new pieces – and always has a reason why the team should purchase these new parts immediately!

“I know I’m a nerd, you don’t need to rub it in my face!”

JJ

JJ (2011-2013)

Description:

JJ is a two-year veteran of “Food Factor” and “Senior Solutions”, and one of five members of her family to be part of the team. She has learned and accomplished much, but the greatest memory of her time in the team was getting to celebrate her birthday (3 times) during the 2012 World Festival in St Louis. Those Americans knew how to make her feel special!

JJ

Timothy (2011-2013)

Description:

Tim is a two-year veteran of “Food Factor” and “Senior Solutions”, being the second member of his family to join the team. He was forced to leave the team when he started “normal” school – but quickly emerged as one of the driving forces behind “Robo Knights United”, another FLL team from Wollongong. The two teams remain in close contact sharing ideas and inviting each other to events.

Tim always displayed a gift for Project work (making him an asset to any team) but has recently shown a talent for robot design!
