Introducing Bike Prime

Today we are thrilled to reveal the latest project jointly developed between Creator Academy and Project Bucephalus: Bike Prime.

Bike Prime is a fun and unique demonstration of a self-balancing motorbike design on the LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime platform.

Creator Academy, a FIRST® LEGO® League team from Eastwood, NSW has been in development of the Bike Prime project since early 2020, and reached out to Project Bucephalus to lend their robotics expertise in finalising the project.

Project Bucephalus has been representing FIRST® in Wollongong since 2010. Named after the warhorse of Alexander the Great, the group has many years of experience running robotics activities for children in the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, and Sydney areas.

Andrew Clark, Lead Mentor of Project Bucephalus says: “The core ethos of FIRST® is Gracious Professionalism™: a concept that encourages high-quality work, emphasises the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. To Gracious Professionals, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Under this banner, “competitors” like Creator Academy and Project Bucephalus can collaborate and learn, achieving far more together than they could individually. Expect more from this collaboration in the future!

Head coach of Creator Academy, Garry Law says: “It has been a pleasure to work with the Project Bucephalus team in the development of the Bike Prime project. This project demonstrates just how far technology has come, and it gives our students a chance to learn more about complex robotics projects. We look forward to more inspiring collaboration projects in the future.”
