A FREE program launching Illawarra girls into STEM!
Since 2011, Project Bucephalus has run workshops designed to encourage children’s interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). With funding from the Commonwealth Department of Industry and Innovation and a partnership with the Rotary Club of Corrimal, these workshops just got bigger!
The RGIR workshops will bring girls together to have fun in hands-on lessons run by the experienced educators of Project Bucephalus. The students will also benefit from engaging with our skilled female mentors from the Project Bucephalus FIRST robotics teams.
The program is open to female students in the Illawarra from Year 3 to Year 12 (or equivalent). There are limited spaces available each term. Ideally, students should seek to be nominated by their school (Contact Us to send information to a school). However, general enquiries can be made through the Contact Us page. If more applications are received than places are available, each school will be limited on the total number of accepted students.
The RGIR program will run 6 term-long workshop series. The program allows for eligible girls to attend one term of weekly lessons free (generally in the format of 2 hours per week over 9 weeks). The workshop curriculum will contain lessons and games designed to develop robotics, engineering, and programming skills. It will cater to skill levels from beginner to experienced. All equipment will be supplied.
